Andreas on Loyalty, Leadership, and the Dragons’ Next Chapter

For Andreas, wearing the Dragons jersey has never been just about basketball. Now in his eighth season with the club, Andreas’ journey has spanned highs, lows, setbacks, and comebacks. But through it all, one thing has remained constant: his connection to the Dragons and the people behind the badge.

“It’s the family feel,” he explains. “They gave me a chance right from the start, and I fitted in really well within the club. There are a lot of people around here that I consider good friends, and I’ve got a lot of time for them.”

After spending time away from the court due to a long-term injury, Andreas was welcomed back with open arms — something he doesn’t take for granted.

“They showed me a lot of respect over the years, especially welcoming me back after my injury, which they didn’t have to do. I’ve been through the good times and the bad times here, so I’m just trying to bring something back for Bradford and show all the hard work we’ve been putting in.”

Building Confidence Through Preparation
For Andreas, the work starts long before tip-off. “Summer is big for me,” he says. “Especially having my second full season back, it’s about making sure you’re confident coming into the season.”

That preparation is two-fold: sharpening strengths while addressing areas for improvement. “You work on the things you know you do really well, but also on the areas you know you need to improve. It’s about being ready for any situation the game can put you in.”

Wearing Many Hats
Standing at 6’3”, Andreas has spent years adapting his role to what the team needs most. “Over the years, I’ve played many different roles,” he explains. “We’ve had good seasons and bad seasons, and I’ve had to wear many different hats.”

Whether it’s creating shots, knocking down jumpers, leading vocally, or setting the tone with effort, his mindset remains the same. “Whatever role helps the team most, that’s what I’m willing to do.”

A New Era for the Club
This season marks a fresh chapter for the Dragons, and Andreas feels the difference.

“There’s a better feel around the club,” he says. “Every year it’s got better, but this year especially. The rebrand was needed, and the people that have been brought in have made it feel more professional, like where we should be after all these years.”

Even when results don’t go their way, Andreas believes the club is building strong foundations for the future. “What’s happening off the court is translating onto the court over time, and hopefully we can keep building on that throughout the season.”

Leading by Example
As one of the more experienced players, Andreas takes pride in supporting teammates both on and off the court. “It’s about picking guys up when they need it, and bringing them down when they need it too,” he says. “Being a voice of reason, leading by example with body language and effort.”

But for him, leadership goes both ways. “I’m also learning from them. There are new guys with experience and younger guys who I’ve been learning from as well.”

Eyes on Silverware
When it comes to goals, Andreas keeps things simple. “My personal goals are the same as the team goals,” he says. “We need to bring that cup home.”

Having reached a final two seasons ago, he’s determined to go one step further this time. “Hopefully we can bring some silverware back, have a strong regular season, and see what the postseason holds.”

A Message to the Fans
And finally, to the Dragons supporters, Andreas’ message comes straight from the heart.

“I’ve seen the fan base grow year after year, and we truly appreciate all the support. It means a hell of a lot when we hear the crowd and see people coming to watch us.”

He believes the fans play a real role on game day. “Being unbeaten at home until recently isn’t a coincidence. The fans are our sixth man. Knowing they’ve got our back translates onto the court.”
