Welcome to the Yorkshire Dragons Basketball Club Privacy Notice.

"Yorkshire Dragons" is the trading name used by both Bradford Dragons Basketball Club Limited (Company No. 08619346) and the Bradford Dragons Basketball Community Foundation (Charity No. 1169913).

Throughout this notice, references to “Yorkshire Dragons”, “we”, “our”, or “us” refer collectively to these two entities, which work together to deliver basketball activities, events, and community programmes under the Yorkshire Dragons brand.

Yorkshire Dragons respects your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you interact with our website and services (regardless of where you use it from) and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

The information on our website is provided by Yorkshire Dragons and while we endeavour to keep the information up to date and correct, we make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability with respect to the website or the information, products, services, or related graphics contained on the website for any purpose. Any reliance you place on such information is therefore strictly at your own risk.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without appropriate parental consent where required by law.

Our website is intended for users of all ages, including children and minors.  Our website is designed to provide information about our club, events, and activities, and to allow users aged 13 and over to subscribe to newsletters, register for events, and purchase tickets and apparel. If you are under 13, please do not provide any personal information on our website.

Club registration is done using the Play HQ platform (see section 3). Club registration for children under the age of 13 requires parental or legal guardian consent.

If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13 without verified parental or legal guardian consent, we will delete that information promptly.

Yorkshire Dragons is the data controller and responsible for your personal data as set out in this privacy notice.  Please see section 8, your legal rights, for further information.

Changes to the privacy notice and your duty to inform us of changes

We keep our privacy notice under regular review. This version was last updated in July 2025.

It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes during your relationship with us.

Play HQ

When registering as a player, coach, referee, or other official, with Basketball England, through the Play HQ platform and you select Yorkshire Dragons as your club, certain personal information will be shared with us in accordance with the Privacy Policy from Basketball England and Play HQ.

The following personal information, is likely to be shared with us:

1. Identity Information:

  • Full name

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

  • Nationality

2. Contact Information:

  • Home address

  • Email address

  • Phone number

3. Membership and Participation Details:

  • Club affiliation

  • Role (e.g., player, coach, official)

  • Membership number

  • Event participation history

4. Health and Safeguarding Information:

  • Medical conditions (if relevant for participation)

  • Emergency contact details

  • Safeguarding disclosures (especially for youth members)

5. Qualifications and Training:

  • Coaching or officiating certifications

  • DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check status

6. Photographic:

  • Image of player

For junior member the following personal information for the players parent or registered guardian is likely to be shared with us:

1. Identity Information:

  • Full name

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

2. Contact Information:

  • Home address

  • Email address

Spond

To enable management and payment of subs (for training sessions) and match fees and enable communication with players and parents/guardians we collect and store personal information using the Spond platform.

The following personal information, is collected by us:

1. Basic Identity & Contact Information

  • Full name

  • Date of birth

  • Email address

  • Phone number

  • Membership status

2. Guardian Information (for junior members)

  • Names and contact details of parents/guardians

  • Payment contact details

3. Medical and Custom Data

  • Allergies or medical needs (if added by the club)

  • Any other custom data fields defined by the club (e.g., shirt size, emergency contacts)

4. Group Participation

  • Teams or subgroups the member belongs to

  • Event and course registrations

5. Financial Data

  • Payment requests (e.g., membership fees, event fees)

  • Payment status (paid, unpaid, failed, exempt)

6. App Usage Data

  • Payment history via the Spond app

  • Communication preferences

Fanbase

For event management and payment of tickets and camp fees we collect and store personal information using the Fanbase platform.

The following personal information, is collected by us:

1. Basic Identity & Contact Information

  • Full name

  • Email address

  • Phone number

2. Payment Information:

  • Credit/debit card details (processed via secure third-party payment processors)

  • Billing address

3. Location Data:

  • IP address (used to determine approximate location)

  • Postal/ZIP code

4. Other Data (depending on the event):

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

  • Marketing preferences (e.g., opt-in to newsletters or promotions)

3. How We Collect Information

We collect personal data through:

  • Online forms on our website, using the Wix Platform, where we act as the data controller, and Wix as the data processor

  • Online forms on the Play HQ platform (where we act as the data co-controller, along with Basketball England, and Play HQ as the data processor)

  • Online forms on the Spond platform (where we act as the data controller, and Spond as the data processor)

  • Online form on the Fanbase platform (Fanbase Technology Limited), where we act as the data controller

  • Analytics and cookies (see Section 7)

We do not collect any personal data from apparel purchases made through our kit sponsor’s website.

4. Why We Collect Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To manage event registrations

  • To send newsletters and updates

  • To manage club memberships and competitions, including player legability
